General:

Why does MyPurMist help?

MyPurMist can reduce inflammation and relieve congestion, runny nose, and post-nasal drip by washing away allergens, bacteria, and environmental pollutants. MyPurMist lets you take control of your health by giving you greater control over your symptoms, the freedom to breathe and a great night of sleep.

What are the benefits of steam?

Steam inhalation is a natural and effective treatment for respiratory conditions and is highly recommended for treatment of the common cold, sinusitis, bronchitis, allergies and allergic asthma. Steam relieves inflammation and congestion of upper respiratory mucous membranes.

Is the steam/mist different in MyPurMist?

Yes. MyPurMist creates a uniquely fine mist of vapor based on a technology previously only available in hospitals. MyPurMist steam is so fine that it is typically not visible to the naked eye. This allows it to penetrate deep into the throat, sinuses and lungs providing direct and maximum humidity where you need it (and nowhere else). Additionally, MyPurMist has temperature controls that allow you to decide how warm or cool you want your mist to be.

Effectiveness:

What type of symptoms is MyPurMist recommended for?

MyPurMist relieves the inflammation and congestion of your sinuses; alleviates mucous membrane dryness; and helps keep nasal passages moist and clean.

MyPurMist can provide symptomatic relief for:

  • Allergies (Rhinitis) (Pollen, Grass, Mold, Dander, Ragweed, Dust mites)
  • Sinus infections (sinusitis)
  • Common Cold or Flu
  • Allergic asthma
  • Nasal dryness
  • Dry mouth
  • Sinus congestion
  • Snoring due to sinus congestion
  • Sinus headaches
  • Nosebleeds
  • Cough/croup
  • Post-nasal drip
  • Runny nose
  • Sneezing
  • Nasal irritation from occupational and environmental pollutants and smoke

Can I use MyPurMist for my symptoms?

MyPurMist can provide symptomatic relief for any of the above symptoms. However, for any other symptoms you can use MyPurMist if you believe humidification would be useful for alleviating those symptoms. MyPurMist provides the most efficient form of humidification safely and is very easy to use. So if you are looking for humidification, MyPurMist is likely to be an exceptional option.

What types of allergies are helpful with MyPurMist?

MyPurMist provides symptomatic relief of allergies due to pollen, mold, grass, ragweed, dander (allergy to animals), and dust.

Why can I use MyPurMist for mold allergies? I thought humidification was not good for mold allergies?

Humidifiers will create humidity in the entire room. Normal recommendation is to keep the room approximately 30-40% humid. High humidity causes mold in the room that can make your symptoms even worse. However, MyPurMist is directed humidity, so it will only provide humidity where you need it and will not humidify the room. This will in turn help the inflammation and congestion that you have because of mold allergies.

I am exposed to occupational dust, or pollen, or other irritants – will MyPurMist help me?

MyPurMist provides directed humidification and will effectively rinse out the nasal passage. By removing an irritant quickly from the nasal passage, you will prevent congestion caused by inflammation of the passages. Using MyPurMist as quickly as possible right after exposure to an irritant including dust is the best way to avoid inflammation and congestion.

Will my sense of smell improve after using MyPurMist?

We know that allergies or sinus infections affect the sense of smell. MyPurMist will improve the symptoms of congestion due to allergies and sinus infections that will also improve the sense of smell.

Safety:

Is MyPurMist safe for children?

Yes. Even if you hold the unit upside down, no hot water will come out from the device. When used as directed MyPurMist is safe and effective for children. Children should always be supervised when using MyPurMist. Do not allow children under the age of 7 to operate the device unless under direct supervision. Hold the device for the child and let them put their face into the mask in a manner that is comfortable. Do not leave your child while using MyPurMist.

Is MyPurMist really germ free?

MyPurMist makes germ-free steam as MyPurFill demineralized water goes through the patented CFV technology, creating a soothing Micromist. So what you inhale is always germ-free water vapor! When MyPurMist dries itself after use, this occurs above the heater so that no germs can grow inside the unit.

In tests performed by an independent testing institute, MyPurMist achieved the same results required for sterilization in a hospital environment.

Ease of Use:

I don't have a lot of time – is MyPurMist easy to use?

You can have warm mist relieving your symptoms in 1 second! MyPurMist is a handheld device, so you can use it anytime, anywhere — while watching TV, relaxing with a book, at work or in bed before sleeping. It also has a self-cleaning mechanism. MyPurMist requires no waiting, no preparation, and no cleaning!

Is MyPurMist available as a battery-powered system?

Not at this time. MyPurMist requires an A/C power source. MyPurMist is tested and certified for use with both 110 volts and 220 volts – so you can travel with it anywhere in the world. It is very convenient to use and can be used anytime, anywhere – while watching TV, relaxing with a book, at work or in bed before sleeping. However, MyPurMist can be used in a car (see below).

Can I use MyPurMist in my car?

MyPurMist can be used in a car using a "12V to 120V inverter of 100 Watt capacity or higher." There are several products meeting this specification. We have successfully tested "Bestek 150w dual usb 3.1a." Do not use MyPurMist while driving, only as a passenger.

How to use MyPurMist:

How often and how long should I use MyPurMist?

You can use MyPurMist as often, or as long, as you like since it is 100% natural. A full water reservoir provides approximately 20-25 minutes of use. Many patients will use MyPurMist for 10-15 minutes just before sleeping for more restful sleep. For most optimal results we recommend using MyPurMist once in the morning and once before bed for 10-15 minutes each. Best is for you to try different durations to see what is most optimal for you. Generally speaking using MyPurMist more often will provide you the consistent benefits of humidification.

What is the 30 second rule?

When you use MyPurMist for the first time wait 30 seconds to allow the water to travel up through the chimney of the device and then turn it on. This ensures the device will operate trouble free. For subsequent uses you do not need to wait 30 seconds as long as there was some water left over in the device from a previous use.

What happens if I forget to turn MyPurMist off?

MyPurMist has a timer that will shut off the device automatically after a cycle or when it runs out of water. Once the water reservoir runs dry or a full cycle is done, the red light will display. The internal fan will stay on for 10 minutes to dry out the product. Do not unplug the unit prior to the completion of the drying cycle so as to prevent internal moisture from accumulating.

Why does the fan continue to run after MyPurMist shuts off?

The fan continues to run for 10-minutes to dry the inside of the MyPurMist unit. This keeps the inside of the unit clean.

Can I leave water in the reservoir if I do not use the entire amount of water?

Yes, you can leave the water in the reservoir. We recommend to "top off to the fill point" (shown below) the water in the reservoir so that you have a full reservoir before every use. The mist coming out will always be germ free. If you do not plan to use MyPurMist for a long time and want to store it, then please empty out the water before storing.

When I adjust the temperature, I see only 4 of the blue lights even though there are 5 lights. Is there something wrong with my device?

There is nothing wrong with your device. MyPurMist has 4 lights for temperature control and the 5th light is a red light indicator to show that you are out of water or the timer for a full cycle has ended.

What does the red light mean?

A red light is an indicator for "water out" or when the timer has run a full cycle. However, at times a red light may come prematurely. In such cases the water level may need to be adjusted. A steady red light means that the unit has run out of water or is overfilled and will shut down automatically after the automatic drying period. A blinking red light means that the unit has been turned on without water. Add MyPurFill water, wait 30 seconds and turn on the unit again.

Do I have to wait for the red light to turn off before I run it again?

No. You can fill the reservoir to the fill point and start a new cycle before the red light shuts off. Just make sure that when you are done using MyPurMist, you do not unplug the unit and let the fan automatically run for 10 minutes to dry out the product.

Can I unplug the unit while it is running?

No. It is recommended to let MyPurMist run completely, until the fan has stopped and completed its drying cycle.

Do I need to store the unit in its bag when not in use?

You can store the unit in its bag or in a safe place where it won’t be damaged. It’s best to store the unit with the cap removed.

Can I use MyPurMist while lying down?

Use the product where you can comfortably hold the device. You can be lying down at a slight angle (with a pillow or two).

How do I make the steam warmer/cooler?

You can make the steam warmer by pushing the temperature button UP just below the blue lights. Push the temperature button DOWN to make the steam cooler. You will have the warmest temperature selected when all 4 blue lights are lit. The temperature range of MyPurMist is a comfortable 105-115F.

After using MyPurMist I still see some water in the water reservoir? Is this normal?

The small amount of water in the reservoir after 20-25 min of use is normal. We do not want the unit to go completely dry - so we have the machine shut off after approximately 25 min of use. There will still be some water in the reservoir at that point assuming you had filled the reservoir to the fill point before starting to use MyPurMist. The risk of germs is inside the unit and the fan dries that part. The water from the reservoir will go through the heater the next time you use it and make the steam/mist germ free. So there is no risk in leaving the water in the reservoir. Only if you plan on not using MyPurMist for a more than a week, then we recommend you empty the reservoir before you store it away.

How much water do I need to put in MyPurMist?

1 oz of MyPurFill demineralized or distilled water is all that you need for a full cycle of fine soothing steam. MyPurFill comes in convenient 12 oz bottles making it easy to pour a small amount of water in the water reservoir.

Can I use any other water other than MyPurFill Demineralized Water?

We recommend using MyPurFill demineralized water, which is available in convenient 12 oz. bottles. MyPurMist uses only 1 oz. of water to generate approximately 25 minutes of very fine soothing steam – so the cost of using MyPurFill is less than 10 cents per average daily use. However, Distilled water is a type of purified water that is appropriate to use in MyPurMist.

Do not use drinking or bottled water as these have minerals, which will almost immediately damage the patented CFV technology used to generate the fine steam. This will render the device inoperable after just a few uses (and will void the warranty).

Can I add other ingredients like saline, eucalyptus oil or other aromatherapies?

No. Saline and many essential oils contain minerals that will damage the device and void the warranty.

Cost, Reimbursement, Availability:

The cost of MyPurMist seems high to me. Why is it this high?

For typical use of 10-15 minutes a day, MyPurMist costs less than 25 cents per day. If you have multiple family members using MyPurMist, then this cost is even lower. This is lower than the cost of OTC drugs, nasal irrigation, or even the cost of buying and running humidifiers.

Other remedies - a comparison:

Why is MyPurMist better than other options?

MyPurMist is completely natural and easy to use. It starts providing steam the moment you turn it on and its small size allows you to use it anytime, anywhere – while watching TV, relaxing with a book, at work or in bed before sleeping. There is no preparation, no waiting or cleaning. Plus, it is germ free and safe for kids!

Does MyPurMist work like a humidifier?

No. While a room humidifier adds moisture to a room by releasing mist into the air, MyPurMist provides warm, direct humidification to the sinuses, which thins mucus so you can breathe easier and in comfort. Or inhale through the mouth to bring soothing warm mist to the throat to calm a cough or other respiratory conditions. Most humidifiers have to be cleaned regularly and steam humidifiers always have unsafe scalding hot water. MyPurMist on the other hand has no boiling water and is 100% germ free.

Can you compare use of MyPurMist versus nasal irrigation (neti-pot)?

Nasal irrigation is very uncomfortable and many users also experience a gag reflex. It expels the mucus and is useful only for the nasal passage. MyPurMist on the other hand is very soothing and melts away the mucus while keeping your nasal passages moist and clean. In addition, the patented technology allows for the mist to penetrate deep into your sinuses, throat, and lungs. MyPurMist is easy to use, is instantly ready whenever you are - requires no waiting, no preparation and no cleanup. It is also 100% germ-free and less expensive over a year of use.

I currently use a neti-pot (nasal irrigation) – will MyPurMist allow me to stop using this?

Many users of MyPurMist have told us that they are able to reduce, and in some cases stop, the use of neti-pot or nasal irrigation. MyPurMist is very soothing and comfortable. With regular use you will be able to breathe easier and sleep better. Over time you will be able to determine how to adjust other therapies including decreasing the need for sinus medications.

Can you compare use of MyPurMist versus other steam inhalers like Vicks or Mabis?

MyPurMist is the only safe approach to steam. Other steam inhalers create boiling water, which makes them unsafe. As a result use is restricted to use on stable surfaces like a kitchen table and only by adults. Finally, the steam generated can be too hot or too cold making it uncomfortable and produce unstable particle sizes (too large). MyPurMist on the other hand has no boiling water, is 100% germ free, and being handheld can be used anytime, anywhere. In addition, the patented technology allows for the mist to penetrate deep into your sinuses, throat, and lungs. MyPurMist is easy to use, is instantly ready whenever you are - requires no waiting, no preparation and no cleanup.

Will MyPurMist help reduce my use of drugs?

Drugs can leave you drowsy or have side effects. Many users of MyPurMist have told us that they are able to reduce and, in some cases, stop the use of other therapies for symptom relief. MyPurMist is a natural, soothing and comfortable way to relieve your symptoms.

Cleaning:

How do I clean MyPurMist?

We suggest wiping down the outside of the product with a dry cloth before storing. If the outside of your MyPurMist gets dirty, use a warm damp cloth dipped in soapy water to gently wipe the outside of the unit.
Do not submerge your MyPurMist in water.
To prevent germs from spreading, wipe masks down with warm soapy water and dry before storing. We recommend that everyone that uses MyPurMist have his or her own mask.

Be sure to drain all of the water out of your MyPurMist and wait until it has run through the automatic drying cycle before storing. This helps to prevent mold growth on the inside of the unit.

Do I need to clean MyPurMist out after every use?

Your MyPurMist cleans itself for you! Just be sure to let the fan run until it shuts off after every use till the inside of the unit dries out.

Can I put the unit under running water to wash it?

No. Do not put the unit in water or under running water at any time.

Can I wash the mask in a dishwasher?

No. Your latex-free medical grade mask should only be hand washed with warm water and soap.

Troubleshooting:

Please note that demineralized/distilled water should not be filled till the top but ONLY till the base of the spout - just till where you can see it coming into the spout (see below for fill line). This is sufficient water for a full cycle.

FIRST USE OR AFTER STORAGE (NO WATER IN THE WATER RESERVOIR):
- Pour demineralized (distilled) water till the fill line
- Wait 30 seconds and turn on
- After the cycle is done, do not empty the reservoir of the water left over unless you plan to store the device

SUBSEQUENT USES:
- Pour demineralized (distilled) water till the fill line
- Turn on device right away
- After the cycle is done, do not empty the reservoir of the water left over unless you plan to store the device

MyPurMist Fill Line

Your MyPurMist device has two primary indicators of operation.

RED light: The steady red light is an indicator of for "water out" or when the timer has run a full cycle. However, at times a red light may come prematurely. In such cases the water level may need to be adjusted (add or reduce to the fill line shown above). The flashing red light means you will have to wait 30 seconds for the unit to come back on (it’s cooling down). This is the top light.

BLUE light: The 4 blue lights are indicators of your selected temperature and that the unit is turned ON.

While the red and blue lights are indicators of normal operation, they also can be indicators of non-operation (please see below).

What happens if MyPurMist is not working?

If your MyPurMist system is not working, please contact us at csr@mypurmist.sg for fastest service. Or call us at 65-6848 5125 or 65-6848 5126 for any query.

I pushed the power button and nothing happened. What do I do?

Please make sure the power cord is properly inserted into the white power supply box on one end and is in a working outlet in the other end. Do you see a green light on the power supply box? If so, then the device should work. If it still does not, please contact us at csr@mypurmist.sg for fastest service. Or call us at 65-6848 5125 or 65-6848 5126 for any query.

Premature Red Light: I turn on the unit and it goes to red light immediately or goes to red even though there is water in the reservoir?

The steady red light is an indicator for “water out” or when the timer has run a full cycle. However, at times a red light may come prematurely. In such cases the water level may need to be adjusted (add or reduce to the fill line shown above). The water level should be ONLY to the base of the spout (see above). Too much water can also cause the unit to “go to red” – do not overfill.

Step 1:
Add or empty MyPurFill water, wait 30 seconds and turn on the unit again.
Step 2:
If the red light persists, unplug the device and re-plug it in.
Step 3:
If it still goes to red even though you have water in the reservoir at the right level wait 30 seconds (as there is an automatic timer preventing you from turning it back on right away) and then press the ON button.

You do not have to wait for the fan to stop (which is 10 min) before trying to turn it on again. If it still persistently keeps going to red, please contact us at csr@mypurmist.sg for fastest service. Or call us at 65-6848 5125 or 65-6848 5126 for any query.

What does it mean when all of the blue lights flash?

This means that the MyPurMist system is not working. please contact us at csr@mypurmist.sg for fastest service. Or call us at 65-6848 5125 or 65-6848 5126 for any query.
